Need to get away from it all? I mean REALLY get away from it all! Well, I have just the place. It’s a little secret I’ve been keeping for the last few years, but today after returning to Sorensens Resort in Hope Valley, a short hour and a half drive from Sacramento, I decided to divulge my knowledge of this little gem of a place.
I have traveled much of the Western hemisphere… been in 43 of the 50 states, been to Curacao and Jamaica, to Victoria and the Shenandoah Valley, and twelve years ago, my wife and I stumbled upon this perfect little paradise so close to our home.
So, if you are looking for a place to just go and relax, get away from it all, stay in a cozy log cabin where televisions and telephones do not exist, and cell phone signals are so weak you may as well leave it in the car, then Sorensens is the place to go!
You can read a good book in front of a fire, peer out the window at the snowflakes gently falling, sip wine or cider in a quaint little restaurant that serves delicious home cooked gourmet meals, or just do nothing.
John and Patty Brissenden, the owners of Sorenesens Resort are the most attentive and gracious hosts you will ever meet. Even during their busiest moments, they always find time for their guests.
Although winter is my favorite time to stay at Sorensens, you will find it a lovely place to be during every season. When you stay there, you will be invited to the restaurant for complimentary beverages – hot cider, hot chocolate, or a glass of their house wine. There are games if you like, or you can borrow a book from their “library”, if you didn’t bring one of your own.
It’s a great place to bring the whole family, but take a hint from me guys… if you want to treat that lovely woman in your life to a special getaway – one where you can focus on her needs, Sorensens is it! You will have an unforgettable time, and I’ll guarantee it!
